The Langley Research Center National Advisory Committee for Aeronautics (NACA) and National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) Hall of Honor (HoH) was conceived by the Langley Alumni Association (LAA) and the NASA Langley Research Center. The HoH recognizes those researchers, managers, and mission support personnel whose individual contributions have had the most sustained and far-reaching influence on the leadership, direction, mission, and capabilities of the NACA Langley Memorial Aeronautical Laboratory, the NASA Langley Aeronautical Laboratory, and the NASA Langley Research Center. Their work at Langley must have enabled unprecedented and fundamental advances in either a scientific, engineering or support field and made significant and impactful contributions to NASA missions and the United States’ aerospace industry, for civil or military aircraft, spacecraft, or atmospheric sciences.
The HoH is requesting support to identify Honorees for the 4th class, the Class of 2027.
On September 1, 2026, through January 8, 2027, the Class of 2027 Nomination Instructions and electronic submission form will be posted on the Langley Alumni Association website at Nomination Instructions & Form.
We encourage you to consider nominating a deserving individual for the Hall of Honor Class of 2027.
NOMINATIONS
Nominations may be made by any organization or individual familiar with the nominee’s achievements. Self-nominations will not be considered. All nominations shall be submitted on the official online nomination form provided on the Langley Alumni Association/NACA and NASA Hall of Honor/Nomination Instructions & Form website. No candidate shall be considered unless formally nominated in advance in accordance with these guidelines.
SELECTION OF HONOREES
All qualifying nominations will be evaluated by the HoH Selection Committee which shall recommend their selections for further review and final selection.
SELECTION CRITERIA
Nominees shall be evaluated based on the following criteria:
- A minimum of ten (10) years’ work for NACA and/or NASA at the Langley Research Center. Civil servants and on/near site contractor nominees shall be eligible.
- The nominee must be fully retired and no longer directly engaged with Langley as a contractor, consultant, or Emeritus Langley Associate.
- Unprecedented and fundamental contributions to advancing technical, scientific, or mission support expertise, resulting in significant impacts across the U.S. aerospace community, including commercial aviation, military aircraft, spacecraft, and atmospheric sciences. (Focus: Mission execution, breakthrough achievements, technical excellence, and measurable results.)
- Sustained contributions that have had a far-reaching influence on the leadership, strategic direction, mission, and long-term capabilities of the NACA Langley Memorial Aeronautical Laboratory, the NASA Langley Aeronautical Laboratory, and the NASA Langley Research Center. (Focus: Vision, innovation, organizational leadership, workforce development, and building future capabilities.)
- Extraordinary contributions to NASA Langley’s continuous improvement through collaboration, innovation, process optimization, and knowledge sharing that enhanced mission effectiveness, strengthened organizational performance, and enabled long-term success. (Focus: Operational excellence, mentoring, efficiency, culture, lessons learned, and incremental improvements that compound over time.)
NOMINATION FORM
In the online Nomination Form please provide information for each of the blocks. The Basis for Nomination block allows for a description of up to 4,000 characters with spaces. When finished with the nomination, click on the SUBMIT button and the nomination will be sent to the HoH Operations Committee.
BASIS OF NOMINATION CONTENT
All nominations shall consist of completing the elements of the official online form – no additional content or other material will be accepted or reviewed. The synopsis of the nominee’s career shall address:
- An overview of the candidate’s contributions to aerospace and atmospheric sciences and specific achievements.
- The impact of the achievements and how they benefited NACA/NASA Langley Research Center.
- Appropriate additional relevant information, e.g., the nominee’s dates and places of work, professional affiliations and awards, degrees held, etc.
- Any other information relevant to the nominee’s qualifications.
