Our August 10th meeting will be held at the Mariner’s Museum in Newport News where we will experience the Museum’s Shady Ladies of the Sea program. The Shady Ladies program consists of two parts: a docent guided tour of the Museum’s galleries during which women’s roles in maritime history are explored and a behind-the-scenes look at selected artifacts which help bring us closer to the events the women experienced. The Shady Ladies tour will begin at 11:00AM (Please plan on arriving at 10:45AM). We will gather in the Museum’s grand concourse just inside the main entrance. The tour will last 1 hour. At 12:00PM we will have boxed lunch prepared by the Museum’s Mariners’ Café. After lunch, 1:00PM, we will be led to an area where selected artifacts from the Museum’s collection will be displayed and their significance relating to the Shady Ladies theme explained. The artifacts exhibit will last 30 minutes.

You may attend any or all 3 activities (tour, lunch & artifacts exhibit). Make a reservation and select your lunch preferences by July 25th as partial payment for the Shady Ladies program is due 2 weeks before the tour (July 27th) and full payment for the lunches 1 week before. The Board is covering the fees for the tour and artifacts exhibit. Lunch costs $12 (collected your in the dining area). Spouses are encouraged to attend.

The lunch menu is:
