History

In February 1987, former Langley employees and the Office of External Affairs (Gary Price) established a Langley Research Center Alumni Association (LAA). Acting Chair of the Board of Directors was William J. Boyer and Betty Joyner was acting Secretary/Treasurer. Committees & Chairs were: 

• Finance – Edmund A. Brummer 
• Membership – Domenic J. Maglieri
• Nominating – Charles B. King 
• Program – Donald H. Ward 
• Social – Abraham Leiss

These officers served until January 1988 when a new Board was elected at the Annual members meeting.

LAA’s Purpose: Develop, maintain, and enhance the strong relationship among former Langley Research Center (LaRC) employees.  Provides a way for LaRC to link with former employees and opportunities for members to support LaRC special events and activities of mutual interest.

Former NACA/NASA employees & contractors with 5+ years continuous service are eligible to join LAA. The dues were $5/year (now $10).

The LAA is an active alumni organization with strong NASA LaRC support. LaRC’s External Affairs Office & Director’s Office are key to LAA’s success.
