History

In Feb 1987, former Langley employees worked with the Office of External Affairs (Gary Price) to establish a Langley Research Center Alumni Assn. which led to LAA.

Acting Chair of the Board of Directors was William J. Boyer.  Committees & Chairs were: Finance, Edmund A. Brummer; Membership, Domenic J. Maglieri; Nominating, Charles B. King; Program, Donald H. Ward & Social, Abraham Leiss. Betty Joyner was acting secretary/treasurer. These officers served ’til Jan. 1988 when an annual members meeting elected a new Board.

The LAA’s purpose was to develop, maintain & enhance the relationship among former LaRC employees & provide a way for LaRC to maintain contact with former employees & for members to support LaRC special events & activities of mutual interest.

All former NACA/NASA employees of LMAL/LaRC & former contractors with 5 or more years of continuous LaRC support are eligible. The dues were set at $5/year (now $10).

The LAA is an active alumni organization with strong NASA LaRC support. LaRC’s external affairs office & Director’s Office are key to LAA’s success.
